Soil Analysis &
Soil Aeration

It all begins with the first photo below: Soil. What sort of soil do your plants and trees live in? Are they getting the best nutrients, water, and other necessities? In order for our trees, plants, and shrubbery to look their most beautiful, yield their most bountiful crops, and generally be a wonderful asset in your landscaping, each tree type needs vital ingredients.
Trees also need to be able to breathe. Over mulching in the wrong areas, discussed under "Root Collar Excavation"  will show how we properly provide mulch to established trees or newcomers with proper elements for breathing and distribution of nutrients and air.
When you call Houston TX  Arborist with your tree care situation, our extensively trained Arborists and Certified Tree Care workers will generally recognize if your particular trees are suffering from lack of a certain nutrient or food source. We excel at soil analysis to confirm what your soil lacks or perhaps has too much of for your tree types. Samples are obtained from the soil beneath your tree and the results will enable us to cater to your trees with the most beneficial fertilizer for them.

Soil aeration is another must for trees to thrive. Soil should be regularly aerated to improve drainage, allow air and food to travel where it needs to get, and help keep puddles from forming. Puddles, or standing water, can eventually cause root rot and other diseases if your tree is often over-saturated. Compacted, "thick" soil at a tree base needs to be "aired" for the proper dispersing of nutrients and water and also to store these food and oxygen supplies.  De-compacting the soil is as essential to your trees as the proper nutrients, maintenance, and correct water amounts. There are differing methods to aerate, depending on the size and amount of trees you have. Manual or mechanical equipment will be utilized.
Our dedication to creating healthy, vibrant Houston trees is a "dirty business!" Trees can only be as productive as the dirt they grow in. Keep your trees in their most optimum state and you will be repaid a thousandfold! Call Houston TX Arborist today with your concerns, questions, and plans. We look forward to giving you the majestic Houston Trees you desire. Thank you!

Root Collar Excavation

The portion of a tree trunk just above the roots is referred to as the "Root Collar." Covering this particular area with mulch or soil, odd as it sounds, will lead to big problems for your trees. Mulch and soil in the root collar actually strangle cells whose entire purpose is to move food, nutrients, and water, down into the roots for vital tree growth and health. Thick, compacted soil here will shove water and oxygen away from roots of your trees. Also, hard dirt and mulch piles frequently form a thick, congested barrier--virtually preventing water from draining off of your trees' roots. This typically over time will cause roots to weaken, become slushy, and before you know it, that tree is dead!
The solution to this problem is Root Collar Excavation.
Excavation of the roots of your trees is exactly what it sounds like. Roots effectively buried under compacted soil and mulch need to be freed. This is essential to keep water and nutrients flowing where they should be and prevent water from pooling at the tree base-eventually drowning the tree. Pressured spades safely remove soil and mulch.  Houston TX Arborist will also release elements into the soil--tiny pebbles or similar objects--to keep the soil from compacting, leaving those roots able to breathe and flourish!
